This is an ongoing class that you can start and stop when you like. New yoga students welcome of all physical levels! Our class content will take into consideration learner feedback on what poses they enjoy most or want to improve. We will start each class by checking in with the students and moving into a centering meditation focusing on our breath. We will then move into 10 minutes of warm-up poses, 15-minutes of standing and balance poses, 15-minutes of core and cooldown. We end each...
Students will gain experience with the foundational yoga poses and understanding correct alignment and why it's important. From the foundational poses, we will explore different ways of coming in and out of the poses and learn the modifications available. Every day our bodies feel different and it's important to check-in and meet yourself where you are. From this awareness, you can give yourself more challenge when it feels good and take it down a bit when you feel a bit stressed or tired. No matter how you feel, yoga provides amazing benefits, especially when it's honoring your feelings.
So many times, I see young people come to a power yoga class looking for a "work out" that really don't know the foundational yoga poses. They are not getting the most out of the class. Once you learn the correct position for each pose, your body will remember it. Then, going to a class or doing one online on your own will be so much more beneficial for you. I have 3 teenagers (2 girls and a boy) and really enjoy their energy and perspective on life and the world. I believe that a yoga practice 2-3 times per week is a tool you will benefit from for your whole life. I have been a yoga student for 13 years and became a Registered Yoga Instructor with Yoga Alliance last year. I teach 4 classes a week at a local Wellness Center. For student safety, students need an open space to practice their yoga poses and a water bottle is suggested. It is optional to have a yoga mat and/ or blocks.
