-various spices (thyme, rosemary, oregano - this can be an all-in-one Italian spice blend)

Week 3
-aluminum baking pan
-1/2 gallon of water 
-shells (if you don’t have shells small plastic toys)
-2-3 cups of dirt 

Week 4
-a piece of brick, asphalt, or large rock 
-a piece of sod (about 4in.) 
-2 cups of water 
-2 plastic containers (one will be for the brick and the other for the sod) 
-paper towels

Week 5 
-water 
-coffee filter
-two glasses (cups will work, but glasses are nice for students to see inside) 
-ripped up pieces of paper (small) 
-red and yellow food coloring 
-1 tsp. small amount of dirt or coffee grounds (tea
-1 tsp. of cooking oil (any type)
