The intensity of this course will increase improvement, particularly in this age group, in a very short amount of time. Comparing early work samples to the last few will be a great way to track each student’s progress. We will have completed art work at the conclusion of each meeting, indicating the learner’s comprehension of the material.この文章は自動翻訳されています

Students from all educational and artistic backgrounds are welcome! As a former Waldorf teacher, there is nothing I miss more than guiding students through the beautiful art work aesthetic of this learning approach. We will meet three days a week, as early-intermediate artists practice two different Waldorf- themed images; always in harmony with the current season. Young artists will practice and develop an innate comprehension of color while allowing their creativity to flourish through this stunning imagery. This is an interactive, instructional class with an intentionally serene approach. There will be some incorporation of form drawing but the bulk of this class will be emphasis on the imagery as well as the intentional, slow mood. Ideal for the student with some prior Art experience! This camp setting offers a particularly unique opportunity for more student led, leadership-oriented choice making and voice in the subjects and styles that we explore. First week: As we establish our routine, and classroom rhythm, students will gently be encouraged to share more of their thoughts and opinions as they feel more comfortable, and the art making progresses. Class 1: Easy landscape followed by figure. Teacher guided prompts, with general supply overview at the beginning of class. Student introductions to establish classroom culture. Class 2: Landscape with an emphasis on light. (Figure work will also take this into consideration). Students will have a chance at the end of the class to offer suggestions for landscape of figure subjects. Class 3: Landscape and Figure more focused on color layers. Students will once again have the opportunity to offers subject suggestions, and as a group we will decide upon a landscape and figure choice for the first class in week 2. Second week: Participants will get to see their choices and selections from week one come to life. There is something unusually satisfying about having a voice in the Art project every step of the way. We will close out the course celebrating our learners’ efforts. Class 1: Student selected landscape and figure! Teacher will be emphasizing color relationships during each picture. At the conclusion of this class we will decide upon the landscape and figure subject for class two of this week. Class 2: Second day of student selected content! Instructor will be emphasizing light techniques through the subjects selected by our participants. We will close this class by selecting a final project for Thursday, as students are encourage to collect all of their favorite artworks over the last two weeks to present during our final class. Class 3: Final student selected project, with instructor emphasis on color layers. Class will conclude with culminating celebration of each learner’s experience, favorite art works, and highlights.

Hello, Art enthusiasts! I am a multi-disciplinary artist working in New York City. As a teaching artist, I have been working in Public school in-school residency programs for the past nineteen years(!)...most recently with a concentration in Visual Arts. Many of these partnerships involved very direct coordination with students’ academic teachers, so that the Art projects enriched comprehension. I prioritize recyclable materials, and their environmental importance. I have extensions experience with literacy, and STEM-based residencies, in particular.
Over the past few years I have worked with every age, from early childhood to high school. I have seen first hand, how the affects of arts education through residency partnerships transform and enhance students’ lives. I am often very inspired by the creativity and commitment young students bring to these projects. In addition to Visual Art, I teach music composition, ‘Cello, and Guitar.
I am an alumna of the Juilliard School and the Teaching Artist Project. My supporting teacher experience at the Rudolph Steiner School in Manhattan combines Waldorf ideology with these other skills. I am on the NYC DOE substitute teacher roster. This mixture of public and private practice has prepared me to serve students from a wide range of backgrounds.
I try to incorporate physical balance into art making, often a skill that is considered “inactive”. Over the past two years my mindful Art workshops have been requested by public schools and administrative teams across NYC. I have worked extensively with groups and individuals on the spectrum, and as a Visual Art Consultant for students dealing with trauma.
I am a 2020 Legacy Arts Project recipient, and recently received the New York City Arts in Education Roundtable Teaching Artist Grant.
