This exciting, on-going class for beginners will have your child dancing, moving, and growing in every part of life. Did you know, dance and expression have proven to promote neurological development in children? With this weekly class, students will be engaged with the elements, technique, and terminology of ballet while practicing critical thinking and developing a strong and supportive community. Learning Through Dance: Using guided instruction, action songs, and an exciting ballet themed ABC video, ballerinas will practice essential learning topics as well as foundational ballet technique and terminology. Story Time & Creative Movement - Following fun dancing activities, students will participate in a ballet themed story time and related movement/ expression activities designed to engage learners with critical thinking and imagination. Reverence - To end each class, dancers will practice their curtseys and say goodbye with a reverence song. • This is a beginning skill level class. There are no required skills for this class. • Specific themes and topics for this class will be based upon class interests and abilities. • Time for Sharing will be offered at the beginning of each class, and again at the end if time allows. • Students will be allowed to speak to the teacher throughout the class. The mute feature will be used if necessary to assure sound quality for all students. • Audio and video will not be required throughout class; however, video identification will be required once during each session in accordance with Outschool safety regulations. Meet the Teacher: Hello! My name is Miss Zoe. I am so excited to join you on your journey of learning! I am a certified childhood educator with a background in dance and movement. I have a bachelor’s degree from The University of North Carolina where I studied history as well as education and modern/contemporary dance. I aim to create a happy and inclusive classroom where students feel safe and encouraged to make mistakes and celebrate successes. I allow students to participate at their own comfort level and ability. I only ask that all my learners try their very best! I am energetic and excited about teaching a variety of subjects here on Outschool. Specific goals for this class include: learning basic ballet terminology; developing foundational ballet technique, posture, and movements; mastering gross motor skills including animal actions; learning to express simple feelings and ideas through movement; learn to identify basic rhythms and tempos; and improving self-awareness as well as self-confidence.

Parental guidance is not required for this class; however, parents should be advised that physical activities such as dance can cause injury. Please make sure students have appropriate space and attire to ensure safety during class instruction. Younger learners may need help navigating the ZOOM platform. Please familiarize your learner with the mute/ unmute feature if you are unable to assist them during class time.

No ballet equipment or attire is required for this class. Dancers should have enough space to stretch and move comfortably, comfortable attire for dancing, and a beverage to stay hydrated during class. For specific questions, send Miss Zoë a message.
