In this one-time class, we will read the fun Halloween rhyming book "There Was an Old Lady Who Swallowed a Bat," by Lucille Colandro Story Time. Students will be encouraged to participate in the reading as well as answer questions throughout after the story. Students will also have an opportunity to share their favorite part of the story and/or their favorite character from the story. Students will learn the parts of the book. Students will practice identifying rhyming words, i.e. bat, that, cat, fat. Students will practice following directions to create a bat.
black construction paper white paper (can be from scraps - approximately 1 square inch is all that is needed to make the teeth) pencil or white crayon scissors glue googly eyes (or construction paper precut to look like eyes) something round to trace for the bats body (I used a mason jar lid) - cookie cutters work well, or an empty cup.
