This interactive and engaging course introduces students to the foundational concepts of Data Structures and Algorithms, essential tools for budding programmers. Our curriculum is designed with young minds in mind, breaking down complex ideas into fun, digestible lessons. Each session provides hands-on experience with C++ programming, allowing students to write and execute code from the very first class.

We cover a wide range of topics, including the basics of C++ syntax, variables, and data types, leading up to more advanced subjects like arrays, linked lists, stacks, queues, trees, and graphs. Students will also learn about core algorithmic strategies such as recursion, sorting, searching, and problem-solving techniques. To ensure that every learner grasps these essential concepts, we use a variety of teaching methods, including interactive coding exercises, puzzle-solving, and real-world projects. Lesson 1: Stacks and Queues (M)  introduce what a data structure is
Backtracking Maze Solver: Implement a maze-solving algorithm that uses a stack to backtrack when it hits a dead end. This project can have a visual component, where kids can see how the path is traced and retracted, offering a tangible way to understand how stacks work.

Stack of pancakes / Queue:  Standing in a line 
Queue at the Theme Park: Simulate a queue at a theme park ride. Children can 'enqueue' people entering the line and 'dequeue' them when they get on the ride, showing the FIFO (First In, First Out) nature of queues.

Lesson 2: Maps/Dictionary (L)
Word Frequency Counter: Create a program that reads a text file and uses a map to count how many times each word appears. This can be visualized by creating a histogram at the end.

Train Car Assembly Game: Create a game where each train car represents a node in a linked list. Kids can add and remove cars, which corresponds to adding and removing nodes. They can also rearrange the cars to understand how nodes can be moved in a list.
