Required experience or knowledge: Learners should have the following knowledge: an understanding of investing, what is a stock, how a business makes money and competes. Although not a prerequisite, learners can take the prior two classes in the series, Introduction to the Stock Market (Ages 15 to 18) and Stock Investing: Understanding Stock Information (Ages 15 to 18)

In the Stock Investing: Understanding Risk class will explore the following topics: 

1.	What is Risk?
2.	Measuring Risk
3.	Managing Risk
4.	Risk: Static or Dynamic?
5.	Risk vs. Reward
6.	Managing Stock Portfolio Risk

I will teach using lesson slides, questions, examples, and a case study so learners can think and reinforce their knowledge. The case study follows a company’s journey in risk and provides a real-world example. My teaching philosophy is to focus on broad principles and key takeaways of risk and risk management. Learning about risk will better ground learners in the complexities of investing. Learners will benefit from my extensive working experience and educational background in the financial industry. As a bonus, I provide my lesson slides in PDF format after class to help learners keep their newfound knowledge. My slides also include a Q&A recap, discussion answers, a detailed glossary, and sometimes a few bonus slides. Learners will maximize their classroom experience by coming to class ready to ask questions, discuss topics, and engage in learning without distractions.
