The English language has many different spelling rules! My goal is to help your child become a more fluent reader and a confident speller by mastering spelling rules. 


Spelling rules for the weeks will follow as: 

 May 4th : Floss Rule (Ex: Boss)
 May 11th : Ng-Nk (Ex: King/Sink)
 May 18th : Silent E ( Ex: Cake)
May 25 :  Ending y,i (Ex:sky)

June 1st:  Vowel teams ai/ay (Ex:sail/clay)
June 8th : : Vowel teams ee/ ea (Ex: beach/sheep )
June 15th :  Vowel teams oa/ow (Ex: road/crow)
 June 22  : Vowel teams ie/ igh (Ex:light/ pie) 
 June 29th  : Vowel teams ie/ igh (Ex:light/ pie) 

July 6th : sounds of -ed  (Ex:bumped/ spelled/hunted)
July 13th : ar (Ex:shark) 
July 20th : uly:or (Ex:cork)
July 27th : ir/er/ur (Ex:verb/ curl/fur)

- Learner Expectations: The learner should be kind, safe, and respectful. 

 Small group classes allow each student time to practice reading and allow me to provide immediate corrective feedback. These two practices are crucial for struggling learners. 


How to Optimize Tutoring Sessions

The learner should:
• Attend  sessions.
• Be focused and participate in the reading activities.
• Be on time.
• Have a writing notebook and pencil ready for spelling.
• Have a grown-up nearby in case technical assistance is needed.


• Reschedule/Cancellations
We must value each other's time. Once enrolled, please provide 24-hour notice to request to reschedule a session. 
No-shows or last-minute cancellations will not be offered a make-up session or refunded.

• Please arrive on time.
It is important to be logged in on time. Missed minutes will not be made up. 
I will wait 10 minutes for late arrivals, then log off. This is in accordance with Outschool policy.
