爬虫類ランブル | 生きた爬虫類に会い、ヘビ、トカゲなどを探検 | 対象年齢 6～9 歳

In this class all about reptiles, we will explore some of the most unique and incredible reptiles found all around the world and use LIVE ANIMALS to demonstrate amazing characteristics about reptiles. 

Each session in this multiday class will focus on reptiles from a particular continent. We will discuss physical and behavioral adaptations of each species to learn how they survive in their particular habitat. We will also discuss life cycles, parent-offspring relationships, diet, and conservation issues of more than 15 species of reptiles! 

These classes will introduce students to a wide variety of life science vocabulary, including nocturnal, ectothermic, adaptations, arboreal, brumation, keratin, and many more! Each Reptile Rumble class will demonstrate our live animals (5-10 minutes) and include an interactive Google Slides presentation (20-30 minutes) with time for questions at the end. Students will be encouraged to work together to make hypotheses for a variety of prompts and are encouraged to ask questions. This is an on-going class that students can join for just a few classes or attend all!

Our class topics will include...

Week of June 21: Meet the Reptiles & African Reptiles
We will introduce our ambassador animals that will be helping us over the next 3 weeks and discuss the characteristics that make a reptile a reptile with amazing examples.
In the Africa class, we will discuss the mighty Nile crocodile, panther chameleons, Aldabra tortoises, and agama lizards.

Week of  June28: Asian Reptiles & Australian Reptiles
In the Asia class, we will discuss the world’s largest lizard, the Komodo dragon, along with the Burmese python, Chinese alligator, and the Indian cobra.
In the Australia class, we will discuss blue tongue skinks, frill-neck lizards, sea snakes, and the invasive brown tree snake.

Week of July 5: South American Reptiles & North American Reptiles
In the South America class, we will discuss green iguanas, the giant Galapagos tortoise, green anacondas, and caimans.
In the North America class, we will discuss corn snakes, box turtles, diamondback rattlesnakes, and Gila monsters.
