On the first day we will take turns reading pages in The Pigeon Wants A Puppy and write and illustrate the beginning, middle, and end as we discuss it together. On the second class we will take turns reading and discussing The Duckling Gets A Cookie. I will make a group chart as students write character traits of the Pigeon. Students will write and illustrate "One time I gave a friend..." To go along with the theme of the book. The third day will be the book My Friend is Sad with Piggie and Elephant. We will identify and write things that make us sad, happy, worried, and proud, and write them down. The fourth day will be There is a Bird on Your Head that we will read take turns reading out loud. We will each write an ending to the sentence "Mo Willems made me laugh when..." and illustrate it after discussing the book.

4 books by Mo Willems; The Pigeon Wants a Puppy, The Duckling Gets a Cookie, My Friend is Sad, and There is a Bird on Your Head (books approximately $7.00-$10.00 each) If you are missing one or all of the books, you may listen along. Handouts (if needed that day) will be sent before each class. Crayons and a pencil will be needed.
