Learners are not expected to “master” any skills during this summer review course.  Many of these skills they should already possess and there will be some skills that may be new to them.  Each week we will focus on a set of skills highlighted in the class description.  Learners will be able to achieve these goals with or without my assistance:

Learners will be able to:

1. Review kindergarten reading, writing, and math skills through in class activities and weekly worksheets

Weekly Lesson Schedule:
Week 1: reading, writing, phonics, pre-primer sight words, number patterns, counting, comparing numbers within 100; word problems
Week 2: reading, writing, phonics, pre-primer sight words, base ten blocks and place value (ones and tens), addition up to two digits (no regrouping); word problems
Week 3: reading, writing, phonics, pre-primer sight words, subtraction up to two digits (no regrouping), identifying basic fractions; word problems
Week 4: reading, writing, phonics, primer sight words, measurement (inches, centimeters, weight) & geometry; word problems
Week 5: reading, writing, phonics, primer sight words, identifying pennies, nickels, dimes, quarters, telling time to the hour and half hour, a.m. and p.m. ; word problems
Week 6: reading, writing, phonics, primer sight words; understanding bar graphs; word problems

Learners will receive weekly PDF homework assignments for reading and math!  Learners can take pictures of their completed assignments and send it to me in the private messaging area on Outschool (parental assistance encouraged and required when submitting assignments via Outschool).

Learners will be required to answer questions during class as I check for their understanding of material.  They will also be required to submit their weekly packet assignments for my review.  If any corrections need to be made, students will be encouraged to make them and additional practice may be recommended for the student.
