Experience: Students do not need to have prior experience with watercolor. 

Welcome to my loose watercolor flower class for young learners. In this class we will take our time learning loose watercolor florals. Learner will have a lot of time to ask questions and practice. Perfection is not the goal of this class and mistakes are welcomed! In fact at times encouraged because art is uniquely ours!

This class will focus on creating loose designs/illustrations of botanicals. Students will NOT learn how to paint botanicals in a realistic way. Instead they are encouraged to follow their imagination!

What will students learn?
Day 1: 
-How to activate watercolors 
-How to hold brushes
-Watercolor techniques

Day 2: 
-Color mixing (brief overview) (great way to practice mixing colors)
- I will demonstrate how to make various flowers and leaves. Then learners will practice making different flowers and leaves on their own!
-This day will provide learners with extra time to paint and practice. IF learners feel ready we will begin our project. 

Day 3: 
I will demonstrate to learners how to make a floral bouquet and they will work on their own project. If time permits we will make two bouquets! 

Instruction:
Students will follow along with my live instruction. Students can replicate exactly what I am showing them OR they can choose to follow their creative intuition. They will be able to use their intuition to use their own color combinations if they choose or to create the botanicals in a style they feel drawn to. 

They will also have the opportunity to create their own designs based on what they have learned. This will strengthen students' understanding and develop their creativity. 

Final result: 
Students will have created samples of watercolor techniques as well as florals. They will have an opportunity to freely create their own florals as they wish. This exercise can be replicated and used to create gifts for family and friends for greeting cards and decorative art! 

After class: Students can continue to practice these techniques on their own, but are not required to.

NOTE ON MATERIALS:

-Watercolor paper must be 140lb weight to hold the water properly. Brushes must be for watercolor student/prof level. 
-I strongly encourage watercolor paint to be student/professional such as Winsor & Newton Cotman Watercolor Paint Set, 10 (5ml) or 20 (5ml). Sakura watercolor set comes with brush!

***Special note: Students final result may vary from my own demonstration due to students having (or wanting to use) different colors in their projects***
