このクラスで学べること
This course is a part of the series called Italian Intermediates. If you are unsure if your student is at an intermediate level, feel free to try a class and see how it goes. In general, if they can understand a base-level of conjugating verbs then they can join. It very much depends on the student because some who are fairly new to Italian can pick up on harder information very fast while others need more time. As mentioned, this is in general at an intermediate level. My Saturday section will be easier than Friday section. Feel free to join both if you'd like to learn more each week! Your child can jump in any week to learn the Italian grammar, vocabulary, verbs, songs, stories/fairytales, dialogues, conversation skills, and comprehension via shows like Bluey we are focusing on for this course. While the "content does not build" as in you don't have to know what was taught the week before to understand we are learning that day, "content builds" weekly in your knowledge and understanding of more Italian. Friday Section at 1pm EST: Dec 8: Christmas vocabulary or reading a winter story Dec 15: Reading a Christmas story about Santa and a magical dog collar Dec 22: Continue reading a Christmas story about Santa and a magical dog collar Dec 29: We will finish reading a Christmas story about Santa and magical dog collar. Jan 5, 2024: We will discuss a verb tense called "il passato remoto" of when to use it and what the regular pattern is (Ciao book page 398-399) Jan 12: We will read and translate a dialogue-- as well as answer questions from it-- from Ciao 8th edition book. Jan 19: skip Jan 26: We will discuss what are some irregular verbs for "il passato remoto (Ciao book page 398-399) --More topics to come-- Saturday Section at 10am EST: Nov 18: Learn some Thanksgiving vocabulary and start the story by Twinkl called Dieci Piccole Luci. Dec 9: Christmas vocabulary and some Italian Christmas traditions Dec 16: We will go over more Italian Christmas traditions and learn part of We Wish You a Merry Christmas in Italian. 学習到達目標
The goal of this club is to help students get excited and feel confident in speaking some Italian through learning some key grammar, vocabulary, verb skills, conversation skills, and over all comprehension in order to get them interested in foreign languages for college or feeling more confident in upper Italian for those learning the language for fun, traveling to Italy, living in Italy, or understanding Italian relatives better.

学習ニーズ
I have worked with students who have ASD, ADHD (up to severe), dysgraphia, neurodivergent, selective mutism, slow processing speed, and more. I help them gain confidence that they matter, can be themselves, & can learn what we are learning.
保護者へのお知らせ
This class provides parents with a cheaper option that one on one private lessons (generally around $1 a minute) but still a small group at a higher Italian level than beginners.
Around Christmas, any songs will be secular based.
YouTube may be used in class if extra timer permits to learn conversation skills, a song, or watch a show in Italian. No account needed. Links will be in classroom to re-watch video if desired.
Quizlets are sometimes given to review with. You will need to set up an account for them to be able to do the optional homework with Quizlet if desired.
受講に必要なもの
It would be helpful to have Ciao 8th edition textbook by Carla Larese Riga and Irene Bubula--Philips as it is used at times. A used version is perfect (new ones are quite expensive).

I believe that taking foreign language classes opens the doors to many opportunities. In high school, I took Spanish, and at university, I learned up to the Intermediate level in Italian. I now give students the opportunity to learn the Italian language by making it fun and engaging through my teaching style, print-offs, and Quizlets games. I have been teaching beginner through intermediate Italian courses since 2019 involving basic conversation skills, grammar (present indicative, passato prossimo, conjugating verbs with pronouns, adjectives reflecting the correct the-- as there are 7 the's in Italian, and more), as well as vocabulary, comprehension via shows such as Bluey, fairytale reading, and even songs such Ed Sheeran's "Perfect Symphony" classes to make the language to come to life in a fun way. I've taught over 1,000 students through private lessons, group sessions, and charter schools with over 400 positive reviews.
