The instructor spent many years employed at a local museum, where staff frequently engaged students in different STEM related projects.
Class #1: Catapult Construction Eight craft sticks (popsicle sticks) Four or five sturdy rubber bands Glue Plastic bottle cap to hold a cotton ball Cotton ball (If you do not have any available, you can make a small ball by crumbling some paper.) Small, flat surface (at least 1 x 1 feet is recommended) Class #2: Paratrooper Construction One piece of crepe or tissue paper (a plastic bag will work as well) Four pieces of string One washer, figurine, pen, or other small weight One hole puncher Optional: Scotch tape Class 3: Bottle Buoyancy One 20 Ounce Soda Bottle One 2-3 inch long narrow piece of PVC tubing (narrow enough to fit through the mouth of the bottle) One small pool or bathtub that can be filled with water.
