このクラスで学べること
This class invites experienced dancers to strengthen their foundation and technique, while learning more about hip hop culture. Students will continue to expand their knowledge of Old School Hip Hop Dance moves and Street Jazz/ Commercial Hip Hop including learning new moves, variations of moves explored in Hip Hop Dance Choreography, and different ways to create choreography. Unlike a YouTube video or video game, students learn to do more than just follow. They’ll learn dance technique, Hip Hop terminology, how to create their own freestyle, and how to collaborate on choreography. This is not a "workout" to hip hop music. At times students may stop dancing to take notes, watch a video clip of a dance move, or engage in class discussion. In-class discussion allows participants to ask questions and contribute movement ideas. Participants will have the benefit of observing their peers. The teacher will guide participants through a choreographed routine and use student input to shape the routine. We offer a friendly environment for students of all abilities and all genders. Even if your child feels like they have no rhythm or 2 left feet, this class will empower them to find their own musicality. This class includes 25% discussion-based interaction with the teacher and peers. This class is ideal for: - Those who have taken my Hip Hop Dance Choreography 8 week or 16 week program - Those who have dance experience with styles other than ballet and tap - Those who are ready to grow their freestyle skills in addition to their choreography skills - Those interested in Hip Hop culture & Hip Hop History This class involves physical movement (all abilities are welcome). It is recommended for your child to have water nearby. Students should refrain from eating during class. Course Overview: Week 1: Basics review (Dance Moves) Week 2: Technique: Foundation Review Week 3: Technique: Applying Directional Changes Week 4: Technique: Rolls & Waves Week 5: Technique: Breaking down Variations part 1 Week 6: Choreography: Music Cues Week 7: Choreography: Lyrics Week 8: Final Presentation Class Overview: - Welcome & Share - Dance warm-up - Learn or review dance moves - Focus of the day - Applying the technique - Freestyle challenge While student song requests are encouraged we are unable to play songs that contain profanity even if these songs are an important part of hip hop music history. This class contains a variety of music as hip hop dance is now seen in pop culture including television shows, Broadway shows, and commercials. *** Low Enrollment Policy*** Higher skill level classes tend to have lower enrollment numbers. This class is priced to allow us to conduct the class, in the event that we do not meet the enrollment minimum. If your child is only interested in participating with peers, then please let us know. We will communicate with you before the class start date to determine if your child would like to proceed with the scheduled lessons.
