The overall goal of this class is to ignite curiosity about nature, support learners in making discoveries about trees and uncover new questions about the trees near them.  They will learn about some specific trees such as Sequoias, Torrey Pines and Sweetgum as a way to engage in thinking about leaves, bark, seed and roots.  The idea is for learners to take the ideas explored in class to investigate and make discoveries about their local trees. 

I have a Master's in early childhood and inclusive education with an emphasis on literacy.  I have been an educator for 20 years and am passionate about supporting young learners in pursuing their interests and digging deeper to uncover new questions.  I see all children as capable individuals who are motivated to learn when their interests are honored and they are encouraged to make their own discoveries.  I also love spending time outdoors with my own family and view the outdoors as a classroom for all ages.  I have seen that spending time in nature sparks so much curiosity and opportunities for learning that supports all areas of development.
