Part 3 of 4
This is the third 4 week section of a 4 part course. If you have not taken part 1 or 2, please look through our class listings page and start at the beginning to enjoy the full course.

In this class, students will learn about gender equality and its importance in society. Each week, they will explore a different topic related to the movement, including its history, the impact of sexism, and strategies for promoting equality. Homework assignments will include both individual and group projects, and students will receive personalized feedback on their work. By the end of the class, students will have developed critical thinking and research skills, as well as a deeper understanding of the issues affecting our society.

Week 9: Women's Health and Reproductive Rights
This week will focus on women's health and reproductive rights. We'll discuss the importance of access to healthcare and reproductive services, the impact of gender bias in healthcare, and the ongoing fight for reproductive rights.

Week 10: International Perspectives on Gender Equality
We'll explore how gender equality is viewed and addressed in different cultures and countries around the world. We'll discuss international laws and treaties, cultural norms and practices, and the role of international organizations in promoting gender equality.

Week 11: Rights and Gender Identity
This week will focus on the rights of individuals who identify as transgender, non-binary, or gender non-conforming. We'll discuss issues such as discrimination, healthcare access, and legal recognition of gender identity.

Week 12: Addressing Sexism in Your Community
We'll discuss practical ways students can address sexism in their own communities. This could include raising awareness, challenging sexist attitudes and behaviors, and supporting local organizations that promote gender equality.

This course is designed for a global community, and the content will be focused on the world at large. The course will touch on sensitive political questions, but will be approached in a sensitive and age-appropriate manner. We understand that many families have different levels of comfort around certain subjects and we are committed to creating a safe and inclusive environment for all learners

The flexible schedule (Recorded Flex Class) allows your learners to watch the pre-recorded videos and do them at a time that is FUN for them! You can also spend extra time on the topics your child is most interested in. Since this is a flex class with no live meetings, students can log in at a convenient time to complete the week's lesson. We will be going through each week as a group and I will post the lesson weekly (depending on which day you started).

The videos will contain the information required to give students a good understanding of each topic and each one will include homework for the students to undertake during the week, as part of a project.

After watching each video and completing the homework assignments, students will be provided with feedback and the specific next steps on how to improve or adapt.
Time frame for the Week:
Mondays - The teacher will post the information needed for the week. Students can submit questions.
Tuesdays - Wednesday - The teacher can answer any questions pertaining to the topic of the week. The students will need to complete any homework assignments and answer any questions in the discussion.
Thursday - Students need to have all tasks completed and uploaded in the classroom for teacher feedback and discussion. Students will discuss it among themselves.
Friday - The teacher will provide feedback to the class and individual students.
Saturday - Sunday - The teacher will be available to answer any questions that the students may have for the week or the next week.

Please note:
This course requires no prior experience.

This class will explore sensitive topics related to gender inequality, including sexism, harassment, and discrimination. Some content may be upsetting or triggering for some learners. It's important to note that while these topics are sensitive, they are also crucial for understanding and addressing gender inequality. Our goal is to create a safe and inclusive learning environment where students can ask questions and engage in meaningful discussions about these topics. We will be using age-appropriate language and ensuring that all viewpoints are respected. As the facilitator, I will be monitoring discussions to ensure that they are respectful and appropriate. If any student feels uncomfortable or overwhelmed, they will have the option to step away from the discussion or contact me privately. We understand that many families have different levels of comfort around certain subjects and we are committed to creating a safe and inclusive environment for all learners. We recommend parents review the course material and discuss any potential concerns with their children. If you have any concerns or questions about the sensitivity of the topics covered in this class, please do not hesitate to reach out to me directly. I am committed to creating a positive and supportive learning experience for all students.
