Students will improve their critical thinking skills and learn the process behind composing an argument and providing evidence to support their argument. They will practice how to respectfully disagree with others and how to develop their opinions based on facts.  Students will learn why some sources are unreliable and how to find appropriate, and reliable sources. 

I have been a public school teacher for 7 years and have always taught these skills to my students. We have debates frequently in my classroom and this is a proven method that I have used over and over to teach critical thinking, research skills, and respect for others.
