We will investigate solids, liquids, and gases and learn about condensing, melting, and freezing. In this lesson, we will look at water and what happens when it freezes, melts, evaporates, and condenses. We will draw a diagram of this process.

Exploring Physical Changes

We will delve into the practical side of things, investigating physical changes, mixtures, and solutions. This lesson will discuss separating different mixtures, such as a group of coins or a salad, and even making a refreshing solution (lemonade).

What are Pure Substances?
Exploring Pure Substances

We will investigate pure substances. This lesson will examine the physical differences between salt and sugar. We will list the differences between the two substances and describe how we know one is different. We will also briefly examine the periodic table of elements.

How do we make New Substances?
Exploring Chemical Changes

Using marshmallow models, we will investigate the differences between elements, molecules, and compounds and observe a chemical reaction between vinegar and baking soda.
