In this one-time art class, students will learn to draw a festive deer walking through the snow, using colored pencil. I will demonstrate each step for students and have students complete that step along with me. My classroom is a calm, fun, and creative environment where discussion between teacher and students is encouraged and a great place for students to make lasting friendships. I ask students questions throughout the lesson to check for student understanding. Students may also interact with each other if they want to share what they have learned during class. Students who enroll in this class should have basic drawing skills, like drawing and manipulating shapes with a pencil. Please check below for specific learning goals of this class and supplies needed. What will students learn? 1. Students will learn techniques for sketching a proportionate contour drawing (outline) of a deer (full body), using pencil. 2. Students will learn techniques for smooth blending, pencil application, gradient blending, and adding contrast, using colored pencil. 3. Students will learn techniques to draw a ribbon wrapped around a deer's neck, using colored pencil. 4. Students will learn techniques to make their drawing have more depth perspective, using colored pencil. 5. Students will learn techniques to draw realistic branches/trees, using colored pencil. 6. Students will learn techniques to draw realistic fur texture and patterns of a deer, using colored pencil. 7. Students will learn a few facts about deer.

***I will be using Prismacolor colored pencils, but students can use what they have. ***Students may use oil to blend their colored pencil drawings if they desire. If they choose this, they will need to bring q-tips. -Paper -Everyday pencil and/or drawing pencils -Everyday eraser and/or kneaded eraser -Pencil Sharpener -Colored Pencils: red, blue, gray, tan, brown (light and dark brown if possible), white, black

✨Welcome to my teacher page! ✨
After graduating with Bachelor's Degrees in Elementary and Early Childhood Education, I decided to make the leap of starting my author and illustrator career. Since then, I have written and illustrated my first middle grade fantasy book, Brush of Magic, with many more in the works!
Along with running my own art and book shop, I design and teach a variety of drawing and painting classes, ranging from realistic sketching, watercolor painting, fantasy drawing, and illustration. I have taught for about 9 years, 4 of which have been specific to art. I love the time I get to spend with my students, creating art, and chatting about books—especially if the books and art are whimsical or magical!
All the artwork, books, and stationary designs in my shop are created by me. I often find inspiration for my art and books through reading, spending time with my cats and dogs, and brainstorming imaginary creatures in my sketchbook.
