This class will start with a review of the short vowel sounds and consonant sounds; then we will be blending them together. Students will have fun playing review games to practice these sounds; they will also receive instruction on sounds they may not know. We will then blend consonants and vowels; we will work together as a class to blend these sounds. Students will then be given opportunity to practice saying and writing the blends individually. We will play games together to review the sounds; students will answer questions and ask questions of their classmates.. Students can use their own whiteboard or paper to write letters and blends. When teaching students, I like to give instruction with a lot of student participation. Students will benefit from a prior knowledge of the sounds made by the consonants and the short vowel sounds. Our goal in this class is for students to be able to blend a consonant and a vowel.

Hello, my name is Parri!
I am so excited to be teaching with Outschool. I hope to teach classes in Phonics, Math, Art, and Sea Glass.
I have been teaching for 28 years; I taught for 25. 5 years in a Brick and Mortar school and for 2.5 years online. I have taught Reading, Language, Phonics, Literature, Spelling, Math, Social Studies, Canadian Studies, and Science. I LOVE teaching Phonics and Reading. Online I have been teaching children ages 4-14 to speak English. I also do tutoring with these ages and in these subjects both online and in person.
I believe teaching should be fun and at the same time assist students to reach their highest potential. I like to teach using games and activities that encourage learning in a fun way! I want my students to know I care about them and their learning.
One of the first classes I hope to teach is one about Sea Glass; I LOVE the beach. Since I was a child, I have been roaming beaches looking for sea glass; I also love making things with the glass too!
