Do you like Koala bears? In this class we will learn about Koala bears by hearing a nonfiction book read by the teacher. This book will also allow for lots of discussion about the facts and photographs found in the book. After completing the book together, students will create a directed drawing (step by step instructions) with help from the teacher of a koala bear in a tree. The teacher will show the steps one at a time and model with her own drawing too. Next, we will share our illustrations upon completion.

In my teaching career, I have found that some students like drawing and are confident in their skills. However, there are some students who don't feel that they have the skills to create a good picture.
