Students learn how to participate in a writing workshop. 
Students learn about the craft of story, such as the role of setting, POV, character development, 3 Act Structure, and story archetypes. 
Students learn about the defining elements of various genres. 
Students learn to provide supportive feedback using the Feedback Sandwich, referring to specifics, using appropriate language, and asking questions. 
Students learn how to receive constructive feedback. 
Student practice reading their creative writing out loud (optional). 

As an educator, I bring 15+ years of experience writing and editing fiction and nonfiction. I've authored three children's history books for a series called Flash Points (Full Tilt Press). Other publications include National and independent newspapers, literary journals, small press anthologies, magazines, and public radio. I am a freelance editor, writer, and faculty for a university's graduate MA program in English Literature and Creative Writing. I have an MFA in Creative Writing and MLIS in Library and Information Science.
