Week 1Lesson 1Introduction of the scientific methodLearners will choose a question they want to answer about a chemical reaction. The challenge this week is to create a hypothesis.Week 2Lesson 2Introduction to Writing Procedures and MaterialsWe will go over the learners' hypotheses and discuss materials and how to create a procedure for their experiment.Week 3Lesson 3Testing the experiments!This week learners will follow their procedure to test their experiment and collect data. The challenge this week is to write a conclusion from the data they collected.Week 4Lesson 4Sharing their findings with the classAn important part of running experiments is sharing our data and conclusions with our peers this week the learners will share their conclusions with the class. At the end of our four weeks, learners will have a deeper understanding of how to design an experiment, run an experiment, and write a conclusion that they can share with peers.
Learners will gain an understanding of each step of the scientific method and how to develop a test and experiment using the steps of the scientific method.
