Session One Learning Goals: You are what you eat, how it is your fuel and what your body does with it.
Session Two Learning Goals:  Where does ATP come from, where does it go, why we need it.    
Session Three Learning Goals:  Fluid movement of material in and out of the cell
Session Four Learning Goals: Why does semi-permeable membrane mean and why it is important.
Session Five Learning Goals: What is an organelles, what does it do, and where you find them.
Session Six Learning Goals: Did the student learn what they needed to learn?
Session Seven Learning Goals: Can the student take theoretical knowledge and turn it into a 3D model and explain it.
Session Eight Learning Goals:  the student will show the class there cell model, present the parts, and describe what they do for the whole cell.

I love Biology and learning about the body and genetics. I have taught in private and public schools from the 5th grade to high school.  I have taught introductory (100 level) classes at the college level on the topics of biology and microbiology.

I also taught swimming and archery at a summer camp but these skills will not be taught in this class.

Each lesson centers around a main idea.  These big ideas connect through out the sections of the course.  The goal is to reinforce these ideas and show how they are tied to the big picture.   These lessons are tied to state and national standards.

There will be four components that the final grade will be based on.
- Did they attend every class?
- Did they complete the reading comprehension question and turn them in on time?  Did they try?
- Did they participate in the group discussion over zoom. 
- The last component will be over their presentation of their cell model.  The physical model can be as simple as painted dry pasta, barbie dolls and Legos in a shoe box, but with a good explanation.  The grade is determined by the presentation, including all the cell parts, there function and what they do for the whole cell.  It is NOT about their arts and crafts skills.  A rubric (grading table) will be presented. 

I will write a report to the parent for how the student did in each of the four categories.  I believe this will be a strong indication of future success in school.

I will be using material from 4 sources; content I created like the reading questions, chapters from a published biology text to read,  videos that go with the text, pulled from the internet, or videos that were student created with teacher approved content.
