In this one time class, students will learn about aquatic animals that inspired Luca's appearance and movement. Are there animals that can swim like Luca or even live in water and land like him? The director of the movie says they took inspiration from some of these animals to create Luca's appearance and movement. He's similar to a lot of cool animals, too! 
We will begin class with a fun Luca related question to encourage student participation and warm up our brains. We will be discussing and comparing the appearance of 4 aquatic animals that Luca's appearance is similar to and 1 animal's movement. There will be slides, pictures, and a video to aid our learning. Then, we will complete a matching activity.

By comparing aquatic animals and the character Luca, students will name 5 aquatic animals and their water-related adaptations.

Hello! My name is Ms. C. I am so excited to see you in my Outschool classroom! I offer many classes related to dogs, wildlife, science, reading, and writing. I love teaching topics from the beautiful animals here on Earth to the gorgeous stars in the sky. I love incorporating reading, art and science all together. I have my Associate’s degree in Animal Science, Associate’s degree in Elementary Education, and my Bachelor’s degree in Elementary and Middle Dual Education with a specialization in Science. I am a certified teacher, and I am currently a substitute teacher and an Outschool teacher. I strive to support all my students in learning and welcoming them to a safe space. I encourage creativity, pursuing interests, and a passion for lifelong learning. I enjoy reading, writing, and being outside. A hobby that has always helped me relax has been drawing or painting.
