We will work on developing our knowledge of combinations to make a sum up to 100. We will also grow our understanding of subtraction within 100 using two-digit numbers, first WITHOUT REGROUPING, and eventually moving in to regrouping. We will study place value, making quick tens, and finding friendly numbers. We will follow the Eureka! Math curriculum, beginning with Module 1. 

This will be direct instruction with guided and independent practice. 

Students should have ability to count to 100. Students will learn what the plus, minus, and equal signs indicate. 

Students will interact with other students by checking one another's work. I will monitor progress through participation. Students will learn simple facts such and 25+25=50 and begin to learn about compensation. 

This will be an introduction and review efficient strategies for both addition and subtraction. 
Students will need to have access to a printed worksheet and pencil. A whiteboard and marker may be useful. Students can also use counters to help them. *We will also use base ten blocks to show our thinking.*
