OR7 is the name of the famous tagged wolf who made an incredible journey and became the first wolf in California after many years. A Wolf Called Wander is a book written by Rosanne Parry based on OR7 (named Swift or Wander in the book). It is written from the wolf's point of view and allows readers to step into his paws for a bit. 

What is a literature circle?
A literature circle is a small group coming together to discuss a book. Typical book club discussions occur but around the chosen tasks. Each member of the group will have the choice of certain tasks each week. These jobs will be discussion director, passage predictor, super summarizer, creative connector, awesome artist, and word wizard. I will explain all tasks during the introduction class and when reviewing them in later classes. If there a small class size, students can have more than one task.

Class Time:
During class, we will share our completed literature circle jobs and learn some of the science behind the chapters we read for homework. Certain topics about wolves that are connected to that week's chapter will be discussed. We'll find out about Swift's howling, hunting, raven friend and more. Each week, students read two chapters and complete their task before the next class time. The chapters can be read individually or with a family member.

Class time: I will read the back of the book and tell students facts about the real OR7 and introduce/explain literature circles. 
Homework: Read Chapters 1 & 2 and complete job

Homework: Read Chapters 5 & 6 and complete job

The classes of this course build upon each other, students must join by the starting date of the section. The 9th week is a fun class to come together and celebrate finishing the book! We will share our last literature circle jobs and play games.
