Expressions and Equations
 Week 1
Lesson 1
Identify and write expressions
Use variables to represent quantities in a real-world or mathematical problem, and construct simple equations to solve problems by reasoning about the quantities.
Lesson 2
Simplify expressions
Understand that rewriting an expression in different forms in a problem context can shed light on the problem and how the quantities in it are related.
 Week 2
Lesson 3
Solve one-step equations
Apply properties of operations as strategies to add, subtract, factor, and expand linear expressions with rational coefficients.
Lesson 4
Solve two-step equations
Apply properties of operations as strategies to add, subtract, factor, and expand linear expressions with rational coefficients.
 Week 3
Lesson 5
Solve multi-step equations
Solve multi-step real-life and mathematical problems posed with positive and negative rational numbers in any form (whole numbers, fractions, and decimals), using tools strategically.
Lesson 6
Solve equations with variables on both sides
Solve multi-step real-life and mathematical problems posed with positive and negative rational numbers in any form (whole numbers, fractions, and decimals), using tools strategically.
 Week 4
Lesson 7
Understand, write, and graph inequalities
Use variables to represent quantities in a real-world or mathematical problem, and construct simple inequalities to solve problems by reasoning about the quantities.
Lesson 8
Solve and graph inequalities
Apply properties of operations as strategies to add, subtract, multiply, and divide rational coefficients in inequalities.
Unit 2Ratios and Proportional Relationships
8 lessons4 Weeks
Ratios and Proportional Relationships
 Week 5
Lesson 9
Ratios, rates, and unit rates
Compute unit rates associated with ratios of fractions, including ratios of lengths, areas and other quantities measured in like or different units.
Lesson 10
Proportions
Recognize and represent proportional relationships between quantities. Use proportional relationships to solve multistep ratio and percent problems.
 Week 6
Lesson 11
Constant of proportionality
Identify, calculate, and interpret the constant of proportionality.
Lesson 12
Direct variation
Identify, calculate, and interpret direct variation.
 Week 7
Lesson 13
Slope
Identify, calculate, and interpret slope.
Lesson 14
Similar figures & Scale drawings
Use proportional relationships to identify similar figures and missing values in similar figures. Use proportional relationships to prove whether or not a drawing is to scale and solve problems by interpreting scale drawings.
 Week 8
Lesson 15
Consumer math
Use proportional relationships and ratios to solve real-world problems involving simple interest, taxes, markup, and discounts.
Lesson 16
Consumer math
Use proportional relationships and ratios to solve real-world problems involving simple interest, taxes, markup, and discounts.
Students will represent and solve proportional relationships. Students will use equations and graphs of proportional relationships to solve multistep problems.
宿題が提供されます
I will provide 5-10 example problems for homework after each class. This is voluntary and will be reviewed at the beginning of the next class. If a student is struggling, they can post their concerns on the classroom wall for more clarification. Homework should not take more than 15 minutes per assignment.
評価が提供されます
I will assess students in class based on their participation and homework (if they do their homework). Students will also have occasional quizzes. I will also provide a feedback report on each student at the end of the course. Please let me know if you would like a letter grade for this class.
成績が提供されます
Students should have a math journal to keep their notes in and solve example problems. No textbooks or workbooks are required.
