I encourage all students to post pictures or words for our new letter sounds that we are learning as we learn them. Students may also share their writings in our beginning lessons as we write our letters and words. Once we begin to read short stories, I also encourage students to post a short video of themselves reading one of our daily stories for the week, reading our words, or answering the comprehension questions that go with that story. These short videos can be emailed to me or posted to our classroom page weekly. This will give me the opportunity to assess each student’s progress and give individual praise and feedback.

📔ABOUT THIS CLASS:
During this class, your child will learn to read well in 100 days of classes using a highly structured, phonics based reading program. This program uses 100 interactive lessons that will have your child reading on a solid 2nd grade level upon completion of 100 days of classes. (Please note that this is Part 1 of 2 Learn to Read FLEX classes. Part 1 covers lessons 1 - 50. Part 2, which should be taken immediately following part 1, will cover lessons 51 - 100.)

🔵This is a 3x a week fun, interactive self-paced class. This class is made up of two parts. Part 2 should be taken immediately following part 1. I also offer this class in a 5x a week version as well. The only difference between the two classes is the number of lessons you will receive weekly IF YOU CHOOSE THE WEEKLY PAY OPTION. Also, the 3x a week version is divided into part 1 (lessons 1 – 50) & part 2 (lessons 51 – 100). 


⭐⭐HOW IT WORKS: 
Please note that this is a self-paced class which means that there are no live meetings for this class. Each week starting on the day that you enroll in this class, you will receive the following:
⭐3 printable lessons for the week
⭐3 pre-recorded videos of myself teaching each lesson as if the student were actually in the class
⭐Optional reading word game cards (starting on lesson 3) 
⭐Weekly printable game board with optional game ideas for extra practice 
⭐Weekly printable discussion questions which will be answered daily in our class videos
⭐Personalized feedback to your child (If your student chooses to interact on the classroom page with letter findings, written letters, pictures, and/or videos of themselves reading our words or stories)

⌚You may view and complete during the week at your convenience. 


PAYING IN FULL SCHEDULE:
If you are paying for this class in full, you will receive all 50 lessons, materials, and video links upon enrollment. 

WEEKLY PAY SCHEDULE:
Upon enrollment, students will be sent 3 lesson printables & 3 video links (one lesson per video.) Each week thereafter, you will receive 3 more lessons. 
‼️‼️Outschool charges each account on Sunday for the upcoming week. However, you will receive additional lessons each week on the day that you originally enrolled in this class. It may or may not be on Sunday depending on when you enrolled. Additional lessons with materials and video links are posted weekly.

ALL PAY SCHEDULES WILL RECEIVE THE SAME MATERIALS, JUST AT DIFFERENT TIMES.



📽️📄🎲The Videos, Lessons, & Games:
⭐These videos will be as if I am in the class with the student. 
⭐I will teach the lesson allowing an opportunity for children to repeat the sounds and words back as if they are in a live class, play our phonetic game in the beginning lessons, and also demonstrate how to write our letters and words for that day, while giving students the opportunity to follow along at home. (All of our words will not be written. As our lessons grow in size, this will become optional.) 
📔Once we reach lesson 13, each lesson will include a short story. Our stories start out short but gradually increase in size. Students will be asked comprehension questions related to our story. I will ask these questions in the daily class videos. You will also receive a weekly document with these questions starting on lesson 13. This program starts slowly, but quickly takes off after a few lessons. Your little one will be reading  words after a few classes! Once we are reading words, I will also give a sentence example for each word that we learn to ensure understanding. 
🎲Additional Practice Games: Reading cards for our daily lessons are included with a weekly game board printable and game ideas for additional practice if desired.

😊ABOUT ME:
I have a bachelors degree in Elementary Education. I have obtained my 120 hour TESOL teaching certificate. I have over 20 years of teaching experience. I have taught this learn to read curriculum to my students in public school, students online, and also to my two little boys. It is a very successful teaching program that will teach children to read well upon completion. My teaching style is very laid back and fun. This class is a very structured phonics based class. However, I do add fun and laughter to make each child excited about learning to read! 🩷

📚THE PROGRAM:
The lessons each include a variety of different “tasks” or activities for students to do. In our early lessons, we will practice the sound for new letters, repeat sounds that we hear, sound out words slowly, and read by saying the words fast. By lesson 50, students will be practicing sounds and sounding out words, using rhyming patterns to read words quickly, practicing sight words, and reading short stories using Distar Orthography. By lesson 100, students will read a 200+ word short story that is written using standard letters.

Using the Distar approach to teach children to read, students will learn to read by sounding out words. Children will be taught to use their finger to follow along under the words that they are reading. Students will be sent printable pages weekly for the lessons we will learn. You will need to either print these weekly or have an iPad or other device that your child will be able to use during class. Students will need to be able to physically move their fingers under each letter that makes a sound and under each word. Students will move their finger along the arrow, from dot to dot, saying a letter sound at each dot. This is a very important step in learning to read in this program. This is a way for kids to begin to be able to sound out words on their own.
