Welcome to the Story Explorers Club!

In this group, learners are encouraged to share and discuss their favorite myths, legends, folk and fairy tales, and talk about the heroes, villians, and monsters that inhabit them. Learners can share new stories they've heard, artwork based on a myth or folk tale, or facts and ideas about any of these stories. This is the place to chat for any mythology and story lover!

Learners will have the opportunity to respond to questions and prompts about mythology, including...
🦸 Do have a favorite hero from mythology?
👿 What about a favorite villian?
👹 What is your favorite mythological monster and what country does it come from?

🐲MONSTER MONDAYS:
Every Monday, I will post a new creature from mythology, giving learners the chance to share their opinions and ideas on it. I will provide feedback and encouragement on students' posts and answers to prompts.

As moderator, I will check in on and respond to comments and questions on a daily basis.

Learners do not need to be experts on mythology. This is a group designed to learn more about mythology and a space to meet other learners with a shared interest in these stories.

While this is a club pairs well with my "Story Explorer" classes, enrollment/completion in any of those classes is not a prerequisite to join this club! It is open to any and everyone!

Metas de aprendizaje

Students will learn new short myths, fun facts about mythology, and have the chance to share their favorite stories with each other. Students will work on skills like comparing and contrasting, critical thinking, and social skills.

Orientación para padres
As with all mythology, some stories can include sensitive topics like violence and death. I will closely monitor all discussions to ensure that language and descriptions remain at an age-appropriate level. Sometimes, these stories can include adult themes. We will NOT discuss those stories or details in this group.

Lineamientos
Welcome to our Group! We want all of our learners to feel comfortable, connected, and safe. That's why we have 3 rules we ask you to follow: Be Kind, Be Safe, and Be Respectful. Be Kind - Help all learners feel welcome and included. Learners from all over the world, with different backgrounds, races, ethnicities, abilities, gender identities, religions and body types, participate in our Group. Always be nice and make others, especially new learners, know that they belong and are welcome. Teasing, name calling, or bullying anybody in our community? Nope. Not happening here Be Safe - Keep your personal information private and never ask other learners for theirs. Personal things are personal. We want to keep you safe on Outschool, but we also want YOU to understand how to be safe when you're meeting other learners or teachers. Keep your full name, home address, gaming or social media name, email, and school name private. Be Respectful - Treat others how you want to be treated. Keep language clean and information you share safe. If you wouldn't say it or share with your grandma, don't do it here. Swear words, racy videos, and violent images are not allowed. Treat Outschool like a public place, and when in doubt, keep things covered. A Note About Age-Appropriate Myths: Please keep in mind that some myths are not always appropriate for all age groups. While everyone is encouraged to discuss mythology here, this group will not discuss myths that involve sensitive or offensive topics. Again, if you wouldn't talk to your grandma about a certain myth, don't share that one here.

I have a BA in history with an emphasis on Ancient and Medieval periods. I have experience tutoring students in all subjects, particularly history and English. In all of my mythology classes, I encourage discussion about myths while keeping it age-appropriate. This is a safe environment for students to learn and share about mythology at an age-appropriate level.
