Experiencia de clase

Welcome potential learners and grownups!
I understand that every learner that attends this class is different and may even have different expectations! Because of this, I have tried to make this class as versatile as possible.

This description is rather long, but please read all the way through it to make sure this class looks right for your learner. :)

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

How this class is versatile:

If there are students that have created a channel and want to improve their channel with tips/ideas from this class, this class will be applicable for them. They are welcome to complete assignments after each class or work on improving whatever they are currently working on to make their channel better.

If there are students that are interested in creating their channel, personalizing their page, and practicing the recording and editing tips and suggestions that I share during class, while we are discussing them, this class will be applicable for them. If prepared, they will be able to attend each class and follow the instructions given in order to complete the next step that will lead them to the path of uploading their first video on YouTube by the time all 4 classes are complete.

If there are students that do not have a channel yet, and perhaps are not ready for one yet, they are welcome to take all the info in and make notes that will help them mentally and physically prepare for a YouTube channel whenever they are ready. Student will never be forced to complete any assignments or work on any projects if they are not ready. They may simply attend, learn, interact, and prepare.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This course will consist of 4 separate classes and will be structured as described below:

Class #1 - Customize your channel

This class will be a "brainstorming" class, discussing channel name, description, theme and design, and some video ideas. Students usually get a lot of time to interact with each other as well as myself in this class. I will be introducing a graphic design website called "Canva" and we will go into more detail in the last class. By the end of the class, they should have ideas for a name, a description, a theme, and know how to create a great profile picture for their channel.

If learners come to class with a channel already created, they are welcome to follow along and complete the different steps to customize their channel during class. If learners have not created a channel yet, they are welcome to create it with their grownup after class.

After class, I will share in the online classroom, the steps to create a YouTube Channel. Setting up a YouTube channel is not something I can do with learners in class because they need to be setup with a grownup, especially if under the age of 13.

Class #2 - Record your video

In this class we talk about equipment, lighting, different types of videos (gaming, tutorials, demonstrations, inspirational, etc), what to say or not say in your videos, how to begin and end your videos, how to create good content, and how to make sure your video has overall good quality

We will also discuss some options for gaming videos and I will recommend some software that you can use.

Towards the end of class, I will give an optional assignment to complete that involved recording a video with the tools and tips that were used in class. Learners can have this video ready for class number 3.

Class # 3 - Edit your video

If you want to make your videos look more professional, you really need to learn how to edit them with an editing software! In this class, learners will be shown 3 simple editing tricks to make your videos look better. In this class, I will be using Windershare Filmora to edit videos. If learners already have the program downloaded to their computer and a video ready to edit, they are welcome to do the following steps along with me and use the video they recorded (optional assignment) in order to practice editing during class.

Editing tricks will include:
1. How to cut out clips
2. How to add fun images/filters
3. How to add sound (music/sound effects) to your video

*DISCLAIMER*
Wondershare Filmora is a program that you can download and use for free, however when you are finished editing and are ready to download it to save to your computer, it will have a watermark over the video. In order to get a video without that watermark, you will eventually need to get a paid annual subscription for the program. This is a well-worth investment if your learner wants to record and edit professional-looking videos.

Class #4 - Make great thumbnails and titles

In this class, we will go through a step-by-step tutorial on how to use Canva to create things for your YouTube Channel. Canva can be accessed at www.canva.com or you can download it to any device and use it that way. You DO need to sign up, but it is free.

We will go through a step-by-step tutorial on how to create thumbnails for your videos. Thumbnails are very important! They will often help the viewer decide if they want to click on your video or not. Thumbnails should be simple but eye-catching and I have some tips on how to do that.

This tutorial will be shown by me through my PC. I will share my screen to the classroom so they are able to watch while I create. Students are welcome to create their own thumbnails in the classroom while they are watching, so they can practice during the steps. They are welcome to use Canva on any device that they have.

After creating a thumbnail, I will demonstrate in real-time how to upload a video to YouTube, how to connect your thumbnail to your video, and then show other special features involved in uploading a video. If learner has their video ready to upload, they are welcome to follow along and do this process with me on their own channel!

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

If your learner has completed everything with me in class, by the end of these 4 sessions, they have been able to: personalize their channel, record a good quality video, edit their video, create a thumbnail for their video, upload their video with a good title, and create a channel trailer with the video they have worked on.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

I will be using a Windows PC for all these demonstrations. If your child has an apple product, they are still more than welcome to attend if they feel they can transfer the skills they learned to their apple device.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Quick breakdown of equipment and programs that would be helpful to have for this class

1. Have a YouTube channel set up already (if not, not worries! I will share info on how to do so in the first class)

2. Create a free account to Canva https://www.canva.com/

3. Create a free account to Wondershare Filmora https://filmora.wondershare.net/ , Editing with the free account will cause there to be a watermark. If you wish to not have watermark, you will need to upgrade to an annual subscription. Students do not need to purchase anything for this class. The free version of Filmora is fine for this class. Best device would be on a Windows or Mac computer.

Helpful equipment:
tablet for zoom session
computer for access to YouTube, Canva, and Filmora
Camera to record

Join me in these 4 classes! See you soon!
