Dungeons & Dragons (D&D) is a popular tabletop role-playing game that allows players to use their imagination and creativity in a collaborative storytelling adventure. It's a game that brings people together around a table to create a shared fantasy world, where each player takes on the role of a character they create. Here's a simple breakdown of how D&D works: Creating Characters: Before the game starts, each player creates their own unique character. They can choose to be a brave warrior, a wise wizard, a stealthy rogue, or any other type of character they can imagine. Each character has their own abilities, strengths, and weaknesses. The Dungeon Master (DM): One player takes on the role of the Dungeon Master, who is like the narrator and referee of the game. The DM guides the story, describes the world and its inhabitants, and sets up challenges and quests for the other players. Storytelling and Adventure: Once the characters are created, the game begins. The players describe what their characters do, say, and how they react to different situations. The DM responds to the players' actions and rolls dice to determine the outcome of certain actions or events. Rolling Dice: Dice are an essential part of the game. Players use different types of dice with various numbers of sides to determine the success or failure of actions. For example, rolling a 20-sided die (d20) might decide if a character successfully jumps over a pit or hits an enemy in combat. Collaboration and Problem-Solving: D&D is a collaborative game where players work together as a team to overcome challenges, solve puzzles, and complete quests. Players use their characters' unique abilities and skills to contribute to the group's success. Imagination and Creativity: Since D&D is not limited by a board or predetermined choices, players can use their imagination to attempt anything they can think of within the game world. This freedom allows for exciting and unexpected twists in the story. Character Progression: As the game continues, characters can gain experience points (XP) by completing challenges and quests. With enough XP, characters can level up and become more powerful, unlocking new abilities and skills. A Social Experience: D&D is a fantastic way for friends to spend time together, as it encourages communication, teamwork, and problem-solving in a fun and imaginative setting. The Rulebooks: There are rulebooks that provide guidelines for playing the game, but ultimately, the rules are flexible, and the most important thing is to have fun. Warnings: D&D games contain violence, as combat and fighting are apart of the game itself. Descriptions of violence are prevalent throughout combat as well, as the DM describes how enemies take the damage and blows that players deal. Places like taverns, bars, and restaurants serve ale and beer that players can purchase with in game currency as well. Reminders: Children must be paying attention in game at all times, therefore there must be no gaming on or usage of any devices such as phones, computers, or gaming consoles.

From Bence Veres (your DM--or Dungeon Master): I have been playing D&D for about seven years now, starting back in 2016 as a player, but quickly transitioned into DMing back in 2017. I have DMed many homebrew campaigns before, creating my own storylines, NPCs, monsters, and enemies for players to combat in game.

Storytelling and writing are huge passions of mine, and D&D is one of the best methods of getting audiences invested into a story, as you make audiences become quite literally apart of the narrative that you created for them to experience. I'm also experienced in teaching online D&D classes to kids, as I've DMed online D&D campaigns for about a year for another Outschool organization know as Trammell Classes. The age range for the kids I DMed for was 9-14, and while teaching at Trammell Classes, my D&D courses received multiple 5-star reviews from parents.

A lot of D&D is also centered around team-building and making connections with other players, so in my online D&D courses I try my best to create scenarios in game where players will have to work together to overcome an obstacle.
