As a teacher, my goal is to inspire students and ignite their excitement for science-related topics. I strive to foster an environment where students are actively engaged, inquisitive, and motivated to achieve a deeper understanding of the material. More importantly, I want students to apply their knowledge effectively in real-world scenarios. My approach is designed to make learning dynamic, encouraging students to explore topics thoroughly and consider future careers in science-related fields.

My extensive experience and passion for teaching about weather and military aircraft originate from my service in the United States Air Force as a Meteorologist, where I provided critical aviation forecasts to safeguard aircraft and personnel. During my service, I immensely enjoyed mentoring incoming Airmen. Now, I am eager to share this expertise with students through the Outschool platform. This platform allows me to offer real-world insights in a diverse, inclusive, and authentic learning environment. It is vital for me, as an educator, to ensure my classes are built on expert, peer-reviewed, and accurate research. To achieve this, I leverage top-tier resources, including Aviation Week and Space Technology, Flight Journal Magazine, and an active membership with the Pima Air and Space Museum, which grants me direct access to an extensive collection of over 500 aircraft.

Additionally, creating connections with learners and facilitating student interaction are essential components of my teaching philosophy. Encouraging questions and discussions makes classes engaging and enjoyable, greatly enhancing students' educational experiences. Despite my extensive knowledge, I recognize that I may not always have immediate answers to every question. I value these moments as opportunities to learn alongside my students, ensuring timely follow-up and maintaining classroom integrity.

Moreover, open and consistent communication with both students and parents throughout the course duration is crucial. Being accessible for inquiries and promptly addressing concerns helps foster a supportive learning environment for everyone involved. This commitment to excellence in teaching and learning aims to inspire students and encourages them to pursue careers in STEM fields.

My professional background is comprehensive, spanning decades of experience in both military service and private business ownership. As an officer, I provided leadership and specialized forecasting services for aviation, personnel, and special operations teams. I also successfully fulfilled government contracts as a subject matter expert, instructing Special Operations Weather Technicians (SOWT) in meteorology and preparing them for global deployments. My lifelong dedication to expanding my knowledge of military aircraft spans more than 30 years, and I continue to actively research and develop this expertise.

Academically, my qualifications include an Associate's degree in Weather Technology, a Bachelor's degree in Professional Aeronautics, and multiple graduate-level degrees. Additionally, I hold a state certification as a STEM Physical Sciences teacher. My experience extends to homeschooling, having supported my wife in educating our two children until their transition to high school.

Outside of teaching, I enjoy activities such as hiking, mountain biking, and reading, which further enrich my personal and professional life.
