***Emily Brontë’s 1847 novel is set on the windy moors of Yorkshire and depicts the tragic and ill-fated love between Catherine Earnshaw and her father’s adopted son, Heathcliff. Brontë has crafted a timeless masterpiece that honestly depicts the pain and anguish felt from love, hatred, and revenge. For over 150 years, millions of readers have found Wuthering Heights to be a must-read of the greatest classical novels in English Literature. It has been translated into stage, film, and television for decades. Completed as her only novel before her death, Emily Brontë is generally considered one of the most talented and gifted storytellers to have ever lived.*** My absolute faaaaavorite book!! 'Wuthering Heights', a challenging yet rewarding text! We will be taking a slow and steady approach to fully comprehend not only the book itself but also the historical era in which it was written, the character's motivations, the author's style, and language which is a crucial aspect of literary analysis. These are complex skills that will serve students well in future literary studies. This book club is a class that is designed to be enjoyable, interactive, and educational! The focus of our study is a book that was written over two centuries ago, providing a rich opportunity for in-depth literary analysis. I believe in using a variety of engaging activities to facilitate learning and make the process more enjoyable! These include character bingo games, which help to reinforce understanding of the different personalities in the book, and Blooket-style trivia rounds, which test and consolidate knowledge in a fun and competitive way! In addition to these activities, we also have lively discussions about each chapter. This not only helps to deepen understanding of the text but also encourages social interaction and the development of communication skills. I once saw a quote that said, "A 5 second recap of Wuthering Heights.... "it rains a lot and everyone hates each other." It gave me a good laugh! Clearly, the book is so much more than that... but to sum it up in 5 seconds... yes, it rains a lot, and yes, everyone hates each other! HA!
