Students will explore ways to generate topics, work through the writing process and practice writing exciting beginnings and endings. Mini lessons focusing on complete sentences and grammar will be incorporated throughout the course. Instruction is enhanced with mentor texts, modeled writing, guided writing and the use of graphic organizers. We begin each session with a creative writing opportunity to allow students time to become comfortable with sharing their opinions and ideas. This class is designed to provide your writer with necessary foundational skills while fostering their creativity. This class is perfect for beginning writers and older students who could benefit from a fun way to practice creative writing. Each class in this session builds upon the previous, so it is important to participate in each class. I will provide you with a worksheet for each class. Class 1- Generating Writing Topics Class 2- Adjectives Class 3- Sensory Writing Class 4- Transition Words Class 5- Editing Class 6- Alternative Endings

Hello! My name is Mrs. Holly, and I am happy you are here. I absolutely love learning and teaching while inspiring creativity. I strive to give my students a supportive, engaging, and laid-back environment where they are free to be themselves. I earned my Master’s degree in Elementary Education and have been teaching for over 10 years. I have experience working with children in preschool through 12th grade in multiple educational settings. After graduating, I worked as a classroom teacher for 7 years. During my time with the school system I worked on curriculum development projects, provided district-wide training and served as the lead language arts teacher for K-7. I eventually transitioned to provide instruction as a Certified Tutor and enjoy a renewed focus on my instruction practices. Writing instruction has been a passion since the beginning of my career. I frequently participate in workshops and classes to gain more knowledge and to find new ways to meet my student’s needs. I enjoy fostering creativity and building confidence through writing.
