In this class, students will learn how to write a friendly letter to anyone of their choice at the North Pole! They will be introduced to all 5 parts of a friendly letter, be given examples of each part, and be given time to practice writing their own letter as well! It will be helpful for your learner to be able to do their best with sounding out words that may be challenging for them, as this is a more content based writing lesson than spelling and grammar. I will be able to assist with this to some extent throughout the lesson, but our prime focus will be on the content of their letter! We will spend the first few moments of class creating a community by getting to know one another, understanding class expectations, and discussing our learning target. The lesson will flow through the following structure: 1. Introduction of a friendly letter and it's 5 parts (heading, greeting, body, closing, signature) 2. Going deeper into each part with examples 3. Drafting their own friendly letter We'll close our lesson out by checking in with our learning target to ensure students have understood, and students will also do a self reflection on their effort throughout the lesson!
