What's that? It's time for the word family of the week! 

In this class, each week we will be introduced to a new word family. We will practice reading, spelling, and writing words that are in the word family and that use the word family pattern. Once students have been introduced to some of the word family words, we will make a craft and practice reading, writing, and spelling some of these 3 and 4 letter words that are in the same word family. We will play a game to practice recognizing words that are also in the word family. We will have fun practicing reading and spelling short words with predictable patterns, and make a cute craft too! 

This class is great for preschool, kindergarten, and 1st grade students students who know their letters and letter sounds and are ready to start putting words together. Learning word families is a great way to introduce young learners to reading and spelling short words as well as rhyming! Your learner will have fun playing games and making crafts while practicing the beginning phonics rules and learning one new word family each week! 

This class will work on skills such as letter sounds, phonics skills, phonemic awareness, beginning sounds, ending sounds, spelling patterns, rhyming words, and handwriting. Completing the word family craft during class will help students to associate the word family we are working on with a word that follows along with the word family pattern. 

This is an ongoing class, so students can come at any time that the class is running. Students will not need to know or complete the crafts from previous classes, as we start on a new word family for each session! Students will do fine in class if they come in and out as they please. It is so exciting to continue to work with the same group of friends as we move on from one word family to the next!
