Through interactive activities, games, and exercises, students will develop their phonics knowledge and decoding abilities, unlocking the door to a lifetime of reading success. Week 1: -at: cat, hat, mat, sat, rat Week 2: -en: pen, hen, ten, men, when Week 3: -it: sit, hit, kit, bit, quit Week 4: -op: top, hop, mop, pop, stop Week 5: -ug: bug, rug, hug, mug, snug Week 6: -an: can, man, fan, pan, van Week 7: -et: pet, net, set, wet, get Week 8: -in: win, pin, bin, tin, grin Week 9: -ot: hot, pot, dot, not, shot Week 10: -un: run, fun, sun, bun, spun Class breakdown: 2-5 Minutes - Welcome, Hello, How was your week? 5-10 Minutes - Introduction to the word family of the week and brainstorming words that have those endings. 5-10 Minutes - Looking at the word family list that I've created and copy it down. Drawing a picture of one or two (time permitted). 2-5 Minutes - Play a game while reading the words practiced during this class. These word families can be helpful for teaching phonics and building vocabulary skills.
