This exciting class will explore the important concept of density and how different substances have different densities. Specifically, students will be able to perform their own hands-on experiment with everyday liquids. Students are invited to simply observe or perform the experiment with me. The students will use the scientific method to predict, test, record results, and draw conclusions about the experiment. Students will interact with me and each other by asking questions and making predictions and observations.
Metas de aprendizaje
Students will improve and build upon their observation, prediction, and concluding skills by using the scientific method. Student will experience a hands-on experiment performing themselves or by collaborate with other students and me. They will learn that not all experiments go as planned and that accidents and surprises are a wonderful way to learn.

I am enthusiastic about helping students become life long learners! My favorite question from learners is: "what would happen if?" Kids are naturally curious and my goal is to fuel curiosity via discussion and investigation with learners. One way I fuel curiosity in students is using nature or common everyday objects as examples in my classes. Nature has lots of math and science "baked-in". For example: the digging, building, planting and caring of a small garden helps learners see and experience how math and science apply to real-life situations.
I am an avid gardener and enjoy building things with my hands. Best part in my own lifelong learning process is when things don't go as planned. That, for me, is when curiosity and learning happen.
I enjoy teaching algebra, geometry, chemistry, biology, earth science, and forensic science. I am a homeschooling dad of 15+ years and math & science teacher of 10+ years in a traditional classroom. I have a Master's of Science in Geology, Master's of Art in Counseling, and Bachelor's of Science in Marine Science.
