Students will be learning concepts of animal science along with the opportunity to develop additional math, geography, vocabulary and creative thinking while learning about Giant Manta Rays. In this popular animal science class, students will learn about Giant Manta Rays. We will explore and compare the habitat, characteristics, diet, family group and conservation status of Giant Manta Rays. I will be using a presentation created using photo slides and asking interactive questions that will also integrate elements of geography, math and vocabulary into an animal science lesson designed to motivate natural curiosity. I will also include two downloadable templates that will help students to identify and label the physical characteristics of a Giant Manta Ray.

All the facts included in this class have been researched through at least three current scientific resources and align with standards-based curriculum guides. Great factual science class for independent or homeschooled learners.

1. Students will learn facts about the physical characteristics of the Giant Manta Ray such as size, diet, habitat and characteristics. 
2. Students will learn how scientists use these characteristics to compare and classify a species like the Giant Manta Ray. 
3. Students will learn why conservation the Giant Manta Ray is so important and what is being done to prevent the extinction of this species. 
4. Students will learn new vocabulary words related to the study of the Giant Manta Ray and their ocean habitat.

Welcome to my classroom! My name is Jonathan. Here, you will find science classes that are both fun and engaging for your curious learner. All my classes were designed using standards-based elementary level concepts of science in order to help children develop the cognitive and academic skills needed to succeed in elementary school and beyond.

I have a BS degree in Sociology with an art minor and a TESOL certification. I also became a science teacher over six years ago, teaching first in an elementary school classroom setting before transitioning to the online teaching platform. I love doing this because being online enables me to teach an array of wonderful kids worldwide. My philosophy of education is that all children are unique, and their educational development is not a destination, but rather a journey. As a teacher, my mission is to guide children on that journey and help them to develop their very best abilities for their educational future. 

I live in the USA with my wife and our two cats. When I’m not teaching, I’m usually spending time with my family or out walking my local nature trails.
