In this class, students will gather each week to discuss books in the Who Was, What Is, Where Is...Series. I will post the books for the first few weeks here and will add to the list based on the interest and requests of students in the class so families will have time to checkout or purchase books prior to class. This class will meet weekly however, readers are welcome to join at any time or to pop-in and pop-out of a session as long as there are more spots available.

Students should read the book on their own or with their family each week prior to class (students can purchase, checkout, or access the book online). They will be encouraged to use sticky notes to mark pages with facts that they would like to share as they are reading. When we meet, we will all share some interesting facts from the book. We will not be reading the book together in class. We will have both teacher-led and student initiated discussion. I hope this class will both foster each student's love of reading as well as provide a great opportunity for everyone to grow friendships as we learn about and discuss interesting people, places, and events in history.

After our discussion each week, we will spend some time in each class working on a small activity, game, or project to go along with the books. I will let students know a week ahead of time if they need any special supplies for our project time the following week.

*NOTE: This class is a great companion class to: Building Brick Adventures! A class in which we will tackle building challenges related to a similar theme as the books in this class each week!
You can see the companion class here: https://outschool.com/classes/building-brick-adventures-iH5GyFUe?usid=tyJ9riaH&signup=true&utm_campaign=share_activity_link

Orientación para padres
Note to Parents: Some books in the Who Was...Series contain sensitive information. It is recommended that you enjoy these books with your child, preview them, or touch base with your child as they are reading. The books contain a great deal of interesting facts, timelines, and overall engaging information but it is worth noting that there are at times topics that come up that you may wish to discuss with your child.

Hello Families,
My name is Danielle Day. I have a passion for inspiring young learners! I have a degree in Elementary Education. I have taught in both homeschool and public elementary school settings over the the last 18 years. I have also taught ESL online. Aside from teaching, I have coached basketball and a Building Brick League Team. I think learning should be authentic, engaging, and fun! My husband and I have 3 sons. As a family, we enjoy playing games, reading, riding our bikes, building with building bricks, and exploring nature.

- If you do not see dates listed for a class, that does not mean that I'm no long teaching the class or that it isn't awesome. It just means that right now, I have more class ideas than available hours in the day. I try to balance opening a variety of classes and leaving myself some time to be able to accommodate requested classes. Please never hesitate to send me a message requesting that I open more sessions of a class!

I hope to meet your learner(s) in class soon!
Have a great day,
Mrs. Day
