As a high school science teacher, I get asked about dead bodies A LOT. My students have a lot of questions about why dead things smell, why they change colors, etc. In this class,I'm going to describe what happens from the time of death, until the body is completely decayed. There will be a focus on how the Law of Conservation of Matter is relevant throughout the decay process. The three meetings will be outlined as followed: Meeting 1 - The first 36 hours, from the beginnings of putrefaction to the passing of rigor mortis. Meeting 2 - The first couple of weeks, from bloating to the body changing colors. Meeting 3 - After a month, from the body liquefying to only bones remaining.

Hello!
I teach high school science at a public school in Georgia. I'm completing my 12th year in the classroom, recently received my Ed. S in Secondary Education, and my focus subject are chemistry, physics, forensic science, and environmental science.
My goal for all my students is to realize that understanding science is not a daunting task. I strive to make "hard" concepts seem simple. I try to create a culture in my classroom where my students feel encouraged to ask questions and THINK! If I can get my students thinking and questioning, I feel I've done my job well.
