Experiencia de clase

Nivel de inglés: desconocido
Grado de EE. UU. 5 - 6
In each class, a new spelling rule will be taught. We will spend 3 to 5 minutes learning the lesson, and then we will begin spelling words that use that rule. We will go over about 10 words in class, but they will receive an extra 10 that they can work on at home throughout the week. Most of their practice words will be two to four syllables.

We will also be talking about syllable types as we spell the words, so it is important that they have a basic understanding of the six syllable types.

Week 1 - The three spelling of /er/ and the ending tion - words may be perspiration, insufficient, purification
Week 2 - short u - oo as in foot, ou as in could, u as in put, and the ending cious - suspicious, lushious, pugnacious
Week 3 - long o with oa and oe.
Week 4 - long i - igh, y, i-e
Week 5 - more long i - y-e, ie, ei
Week 6 - change the y to i rule (this week their homework may have one-syllable words)

Every child will be encouraged to participate by typing the word in the chat box or writing the word on a whiteboard. We will also play a game to break up the class.

Hi, I'm Rachel Capes! 🌟

I have an Early Childhood Degree and a Master's in Literacy. I spent 12 amazing years teaching 4th and 5th graders, and Kindergarten SPED in public schools. I even got to be a math and literacy coach!

Now, I homeschool my four wonderful kids. One is gifted, two are right where they should be, and one has a learning disability. This time at home has given me a deeper understanding of all learning styles.

I believe learning should be hands-on and fun! Kids should be excited about math and reading.

In math, we use manipulatives, drawing, and algorithms to make learning engaging. When we meet more than once, kids get to share how they solved problems and explain their thinking.

In reading, we dive into books, discuss vocabulary, explore literary elements, analyze characters and plots, and make predictions. Everyone gets to share their thoughts and opinions while respecting others'.

I love to read, be outdoors with my kids, and this year we're learning to garden together. 🌱

I also teach World History and Geography at an accredited homeschool group.

Let's make learning an adventure! 🎉📚✨
