Join me for an ongoing course designed to boost your 3rd and 4th-grade math skills! This comprehensive course is aimed at helping students reinforce essential math concepts through interactive lessons, hands-on activities, and engaging exercises. Meeting once a week, this course is perfect for students in traditional school, homeschool, or those taking one of my other courses. Let's make math fun and engaging as we review and strengthen key skills! I'm an academic interventionist and have been supporting students and families with this work for almost 7 years. My goal is to help students apply the best strategy to problem-solving for themselves. The best way to increase confidence in math is to practice strategies that work best for you! Semester 1: Dates and Topics August 23: Introduction and assessment of current understanding. Reviewing place value up to 1,000. Comparing and ordering numbers up to 1,000. August 30: Understanding and practicing addition and subtraction within 1,000. Solving word problems involving addition and subtraction. September 6: Introduction to multiplication concepts. Using arrays and area models to visualize multiplication. September 13: Introduction to division concepts. Using models and strategies to understand division. September 20: Understanding and measuring length, mass, and volume. Using appropriate tools for measurement. September 27: Telling time to the nearest minute. Solving word problems involving time intervals. October 4: Understanding and using money (coins and bills). Solving word problems involving money. October 11: Collecting and interpreting data. Creating and interpreting bar graphs and line plots. October 25: Identifying and naming basic shapes (2D and 3D). Understanding the properties of shapes. November 1: Exploring the concepts of area and perimeter. Calculating area and perimeter of various shapes. November 8: Understanding symmetry and creating symmetrical figures. Classifying shapes based on lines of symmetry. November 15: Review and practice geometry concepts. Practice problems and exercises. November 22: Reviewing place value, addition, and subtraction. Reinforcement activities. December 13: Reviewing multiplication and division. Solving more complex word problems. December 20: Reviewing measurement and data concepts. Creating and interpreting graphs and charts. Semester 2: Dates and Topics January 10: Reviewing place value up to 10,000. Comparing and ordering numbers up to 10,000. January 17: Addition and subtraction with larger numbers. Solving more complex word problems involving addition and subtraction. January 24: Multiplying multi-digit numbers. Using area models and partial products. January 31: Dividing larger numbers. Understanding remainders and interpreting division results. February 7: Understanding and representing fractions. Comparing and ordering fractions. February 14: Adding and subtracting fractions with like denominators. Using number lines to represent fractions. February 21: Understanding and representing decimals. Converting between fractions and decimals. February 28: Solving word problems involving fractions and decimals. Reinforcement activities. March 7: Reviewing and measuring weight and capacity. Comparing weight and capacity of different objects. March 14: Solving word problems involving measurement conversions. Reinforcement activities. March 28: Reviewing data collection and interpretation. Creating and interpreting more complex graphs and charts. April 4: Solving problems using data and graphs. Practice problems and exercises. April 11: Reviewing numbers, counting, and place value. Reinforcement activities. April 25: Reviewing addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. Solving more complex word problems. May 2: Reviewing geometry, fractions, and decimals. Reinforcement activities. May 9: Comprehensive review of all topics covered. Final assessment and celebration of achievements.
