Hello! Welcome! I am so excited to have you here! In this ongoing 30 minute drawing class, students will learn how to draw different cute animals every week by following the teacher's step-by-step live demonstration! This weekly club is a great way for students to let their creativity flow and make new friends during the weekly gatherings. As we draw we will also have fun conversations amongst each other. Depending on the speed of the students, we may begin coloring our masterpieces. I will give all my favorite tips and tricks for coloring! However, the drawings might have to be finished coloring after class. This is an ongoing class. Students may join at any time! SOCIALIZING This class is a great opportunity for your child to socialize! Because this is an ongoing class, your learner will meet with the same group of kids every week, making it even easier for your learner to grow friendships with familiar faces! I try to let students guide the conversation based on their own interests! However, if your learner is shy, no worries! I will help guide and encourage conversation. After doing so, if your learner would rather focus more on the drawing, they can choose to do so! This is a pressure free zone! I want everyone to feel welcomed and comfortable! TEACHING APPROACH I start off all my drawings with an erasable pencil, this is the sketching stage! In the sketching stage, I’ll share my step by step instructions on how to lay out the basic outline of our drawing. I will pause in between each step, and wait until every child tells me they are ready for the next time. I often utilize the “thumbs up, thumbs down” approach for students to signal to me if they are ready to move on. But I will also leave the chat as an option, for those who wish to leave their camera off. This stage of the drawing may have rough outlines- and that’s fine! After this, I will move on to perfecting the overall drawing. We will add in our little details that make our drawings unique. Again, I will share each step by step. My tutorial is just a suggestion, but I always encourage students to add any unique details of their own that they may think of, to keep the process creative! Everyone’s art looks different- and that’s the beauty of it! Once we are all happy with how our pencil drawings are looking… we will move on to more final stages. At this stage I typically like to use a black marker or black pencil to trace my pencil drawing. This gives our drawings a nice, clean outline. Which is perfect for that cute, cartoon, Kawaii style! Once we have traced our drawings, we will now erase away all rough sketching pencil marks. Leaving behind our outlined drawings! After this, we can now color our drawings! I typically use colored pencils, but please use your favorite coloring media! Crayons, markers, pens, maybe even paint! If we have time in class, I’ll share with you some of my favorite coloring tips. We may have to finish coloring our drawings once class is over. At the very end of class, students have to choose to share their drawings with the rest of their classmates! Sharing their masterpiece is encouraged, but now required! Throughout the class, if students are confused or need any feedback, questions are encouraged! I know some students are shy, so I will ask throughout the class how everyone is going, allowing for an opportunity to speak if needed! I aim for a laid back environment where learners feel comfortable and welcomed! Art should be fun! I want students to feel free to express their creativity! There will be no homework or grades for this class.
