Stuck at home this summer? Want to explore the U.S. from your couch? Take a virtual vacation to the beautiful Everglades National Park! In this course we'll virtually visit Everglades National Park. First, students will research the weather in Florida, pack their virtual suitcase, and "fly" from their home to the destination using map skills. Once they have arrived, students will get to explore several 360 degree views of the park on their own computer screen. After exploring, we'll "think like scientists" by discussing observations and questions students have. Students will then learn about the park by watching a short, engaging video that discusses the history, animals, scenery, and fun facts. After gaining background knowledge, students will research the 10 best things to do in the Everglades and choose 2 of them they would like to do during their trip. Note taking skills will be practiced as students learn new information. To conclude the virtual trip, students will write a persuasive paragraph to convince others to visit the amazing Everglades. Fasten your seatbelt and let the journey begin!

Hello! My name is Angela and I'm so excited to meet you! I am currently a 4th grade teacher to some of the most amazing kids. I earned my Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Middle Childhood Education, as well as several additional license endorsements. Over the past 9 years I have tutored/taught students in grades 3-9, in all subject areas.
My goal as a tutor/teacher is to boost your child's confidence and academic skills, thus helping prepare them for their future. In order to do this successfully, I first create a strong relationship with students that I teach. This mutual trust and respect is important in order for learning to occur. I plan lessons and activities according to each students' individual learning style academic needs, and personality. I display positivity and enthusiasm, as well as offer constructive feedback to help learners grow. The most rewarding aspect of being a teacher is seeing the "lightbulb" go off for a student when a skill makes sense to them. Seeing students smile with pride and a sense of progress is one of the many reasons why I love teaching.
I have experience teaching common core reading and writing in the elementary and middle school settings. I've taken many professional development seminars to learn a wide variety of literacy teaching methods.
I also have experience teaching common core mathematics in the elementary classroom setting. When teaching math, I use many visuals, videos, interactive elements, and real life scenarios.
I'm so excited to meet you and help you progress toward your goals! Every day is a chance to learn! Please contact me for more information or to schedule a lesson.
