Each week we will review skills in posture, bowing, music reading, tone and pitch. Students will use pieces available in public domain, pieces will be chosen and covered based on student knowledge and experience. Students will be encouraged to engage in exercises and games to cover specific technique and increase mindfulness in their playing. Students will be assigned to groups, according to playing level, and each group will review selected works from 101 Disney Songs. Students will participate in practice skills, performance skills, class discussion, and cooperative interaction with one another. My teaching style is interactive and engaging. I like when students feel heard and included, and I encourage autonomy and creative thinking. I try to engage students based on their interests, and encourage hard work and dedication with a realistic understanding that sometimes we need to give ourselves grace. My goal is to build up and empower students with practice skills and foundational skills that will set them up for better violin playing. Class Schedule: Week Day 1 Skill Assessments and Group Assignments. Practice Skills and technical exercises. Instrument care and Class Rules. Students will be asked to demonstrate: Ability to sight read. Ability to play a piece they currently know (students can choose to do this privately or in class.) If class time allows, students will be introduced to a piece from the book. Week 1 Day 2 Introduce first piece and related exercises. Week 2 Day 3 Check in on first piece, practice related exercises. Optional Bonus piece as time allows. Week 2 Day 4 Introduce second piece and related exercises Week 3 Day 5 Check in on second piece and related exercises. Optional Bonus piece as time allows. Week 3 Day 6 Introduce third piece and related exercises Week 4 Day 7 Check in on third piece and related exercises. Optional Bonus piece as time allows. Week 4 Day 8 Performance Showcase! Students will be encouraged to spend the first 20 minutes of class rehearsing, and each student will receive feedback on their chosen piece as I move from practice room to practice room. The last 35 minutes of class will be our showcase. Each student will perform their chosen piece(s). Families may not be on camera due to Outschool safety policy, but if they'd like to support their student by being in the room during the showcase, they may cheer them on from there. Each week will consist of 2 parts: Introduction and Check in. During the Introduction Class students will be introduced to a piece and practice skills. During the Check in Class students will have a chance to ask follow up questions, help one another cooperatively, and have one on one time with me to review any specific questions related to their playing skills. If students would like to learn an optional second piece each week, as the class is able, another piece will be introduced.

Experiencia y certificaciones del docente
I teach Violin and Viola, and my teaching style is learner and interest centered.
I offer materials that cover classical, folk/fiddle, and pop style of playing, and can work with students to learn familiar and fun music like Disney favorites, Pirates of the Caribbean, Star Wars, or Lord of the Rings soundtracks.
My background is in Early Childhood Education. I spent 6 years working in this field with an emphasis on art and music in the classroom. This has given me skills in meeting learners where they are at, engaging them using what inspires and excites them, and tailoring instruction to their specific needs and preferences. My strengths lie in empowering learners to find their skill and joy in music.
I have taught Violin to individual students for 10 years. I have been teaching one on one classes at my own studio for 3 years. I have experience teaching violin to neurodivergent students, and would be happy to discuss with families any specific requests or needs students may have. I have ben teaching viola for almost 2 years now as well.
As a young violin student at 15, I won second place at the Lyons Fiddle Festival in the Juniors division, playing "Ashokan Farewell." I have participated in community orchestras in my area as well.
Ongoing professional development classes and enrichment are important to my teaching style and philosophy. Learning is lifelong, and I feel to be a good teacher, I need to know what it is to be a good learner!
I am currently taking classes to complete my degree in music education at Moravian University. I am hoping this will increase my skills and knowledge that I can share with my students!
My teaching philosophy centers around helping children find their internal motivation and helping them to develop and explore things on their own terms! I want students to feel relaxed, engaged, and have ownership in their class and their work!
Class rules and policies:
- Classes that have been missed are not eligible for refunds or rescheduling. Communication to cancel or reschedule 24 hours or more in advance is welcome. In the event of extenuating circumstances, I understand some families may wish to reschedule their lesson. If my schedule allows, I am happy to reschedule as I am able.
- According to Outschool Policy, after 3 missed classes with no communication, a student is automatically unenrolled.
-I am able to help students to adjust and better their technique more effectively if they are on camera. In addition, students must appear on camera at the beginning of each lesson to confirm I am teaching the student enrolled, in accordance with Outschool's safety policies.
-Only the enrolled child may be on camera during the duration of the lesson according to Outschool Policy. Family members engaging in non disruptive background activity, or learning coaches assisting with brief adjustments or needs at my request are not in violation of this rule.
- I am happy to build ongoing relationships with my students and their families. I appreciate the trust you all place in me weekly to educate with professionalism. For safety reasons, I ask that students and families keep all communication on the Outschool Platform in accordance with the Outschool Safety Policy.
