Before our first class, I encourage you to watch Disney Pixar's Coco about Dia de los Muertos. This is both for inspiration and cultural awareness. In our first session, we’ll discuss the history and significance of Dia de los Muertos, including the meaning behind sugar skulls. Then, I’ll guide you through drawing a large, basic skull outline with pencil. You’ll practice a variety of lacy floral patterns before applying your designs to your sugar skull. Each week, we’ll introduce a new intricate pattern and a unique background to enhance your artwork. Feel free to use colored pencils, markers, or crayons, and I’ll share techniques for shading and layering to help you create stunning textures.
