Club de lectura de primaria superior

En esta clase de ocho sesiones quincenales, los estudiantes leerán y analizarán secciones de Wild Robot. Intentaremos terminar el libro antes de que se estrene la película a fines de septiembre para que puedas disfrutar de la película *después* de experimentar la novela.

2-4 horas por semana. Students will be asked to read several chapters of the text outside of class. They will be given a book club job, which typically takes 30-60 minutes to complete, each week.

Over the course of 4 sessions, this class will strengthen students ability to read both fiction and nonfiction texts. Each day, we will focus on a different piece of reading. We will use research backed tools, steeped in the Science of Reading, to prepare students for 5th grade  level reading. 

Ms. AJ uses a kind, supportive, and honest tone to support students as they build their comprehension skills and prepare for higher level reading.

Lección 1:
Reading launch, chapter 1, and book club jobs
 Students will be introduced to the novel, then we will read chapter 1 together and get a sense of the author's writing style, the narrator's perspective, and the overall tone/setting of the book. We will then learn about how our book club jobs will work and how students will participate in various jobs over the 8 sessions! Students will be given their homework assignment (book club job #1 and reading!)

Lección 2:
Book Club Meeting 1
 Students will present their various book club jobs, then we will discuss the plot structure and exposition of the story. We will begin to track characters and plot elements, while also exploring how various vocabulary impacts our understanding of the story. Students will be given their homework assignment (book club job #2 and reading!)

Lección 3:
Author and Narrator's Point of View
 Students will be challenged to explore the various points of view that exists in texts. We will explore the author's point of view and how it shapes the story. We will also explore the narrator's point of view and imagine how the story might be different with differing narration.

Lección 4:
Book Club Meeting 2
 Students will present their various book club jobs, then we will update our understanding of the plot structure and the movement towards the climax of the story. We will explore rising action events, and how these events impact our understanding of the overall conflict int he story. Students will be given their homework assignment (book club job #3 and reading!)
